Elder Mark T. Gibson

Elder Mark T. Gibson is the Senior Pastor of the historic Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Providence, North Carolina. Since his confirmation in 2004, the ministry has grown and progressed with souls coming to Christ and the enhancement of its current membership. He is the 8th pastor of North Carolina’s oldest African-American Church; however, his belief is that the rich traditions of our past has prepared us for our present and provided promise for our future. Since Elder Gibson’s arrival many ministries and programs have been birthed, such as a van ministry, children’s church, children’s bible study, Greeters ministry, the consolidation of the choirs, outreach/evangelism ministry, and an exploratory ministry for a new edifice and community center.
Elder Gibson has distinguished himself as a passionate and anointed preacher and teacher, with a sincere desire to teach God’s word to the lost, hungry, and distraught. He has been blessed to preach throughout Virginia, North Carolina, as well as the west coast. He is the spiritual son of Apostle Lawrence G. Campbell, Sr., Founder and Pastor of The Bible Way Cathedral in Danville, Virginia. While under Apostle Campbell’s ministry, Elder Gibson served as the youth minister of the local church, served as a national officer on the Finance Ministry for the Bible Way Worldwide organization and also as an armor bearer for Apostle Campbell. His travels have taken him throughout the United States and the Caribbean (Trinidad).
Born and educated in Washington, DC, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. He holds a Master Degree in Student Personnel Services from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He has dedicated his professional life to education and our youth through his work as an educator and administrator. Elder Gibson plans to complete his Master’s in Divinity at Shaw University with intentions of pursuing his Doctorate in Ministry. Elder Gibson spent over 20 years as an announcer for North Carolina A&T State University's radio station (90.1 FM WNAA) Gospel program "The First Light." He also worked Sunday mornings for 97.1 FM WQMG's Gospel Flight 97 for over 2 years before being confirmed as Ebenezer's pastor.
He is the loving husband of Lady Margo Rice Gibson and the proud father of four sons: the late Mark Thomas Gibson, II; Lamont Junious (Atlanta, GA); Myles Tyler and Matthew Trenton (“Trent”) and one daughter, Chelsey. He is the fourth of five sons (Philip, David, and Bernie) and adopted brother Roger Morris born to Herbert and Joyce Gibson. He is the identical twin brother of the late Paul Elliott Gibson.
